#EBW24 previews: Chair for panel session ‘Stakeholders in the spotlight: Information security and data privacy’
We are delighted to confirm the chairs for the panel session ‘Stakeholders in the spotlight: Information security and data privacy’: Dr. Michal Malewicz, National Node Director of BBMRI.pl and Lisa Oster from Bruker BioSpin. The session takes place on Wednesday 15 May 2024 as part of the EBW24 programme.
Michal Malewicz, PhD
Michal is a molecular biologist specialising in genome stability and DNA repair mechanisms, a graduate of the University of Warsaw. He received his PhD from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2002. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Karolinska Nobel Institute in Stockholm, Michal led a research group at the Medical Research Council (MRC)/University of Cambridge in the UK. Between 2019-2020 Michal worked the industry. Michal research interests focus on biochemistry of DNA repair complexes, mutation fixation in cancers and the relationship between failure of DNA repair mechanisms and disease. Since 2020, after returning to Poland, Michal had been running the Laboratory of Genome Dynamics, from 2021 he was appointed the Director of the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Center and in 2022 the Director of BBMRI.pl National biobanking Node at Łukasiewicz-PORT.
Lisa Oster
Lisa Oster is a fully qualified German lawyer specialising in technology-related matters with a focus on IT projects, privacy and scientific research. She studied international affairs at Sciences Po (France), international law at Carleton University (Canada) and graduated in law as well as political science at the University of Freiburg (Germany) in 2014. As a legal trainee, she discovered her particular interest in IT topics and further deepened her professional specialization by working as a Consultant for Data Protection at Roche (2017-2018). In 2018, Lisa has joined Bruker in Germany and is currently working as Legal Counsel and Privacy Responsible EMEA. In addition, Lisa is an attorney in private practice.
