#EBW25 Previews: 10C: Samples ready for multi-omics research

This session will highlight the critical biobank resources in multi-omics research, their challenges in sample collection and the integration of the requirements of different ‘omics’ fields, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics into the operational biobank routine, clinical applications and IVDR.

This session will be chaired by:

Dr. Ronny Baber

Dr. Ronny Baber works in the Institute of Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, and Molecular Diagnostics at the University Hospital Leipzig. He is the head of the Leipzig Medical Biobank and the LIFE-Preanalytical laboratory in the Leipzig Research Center for Civilisation Diseases (LIFE).

Dr. Baber is a member of the working group in the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), which supports the ISO TC 276 responsible for the ISO standard 20387 on biobanking, and BBMRI-ERIC working groups for the evaluation of CEN standards. He is also part of the Steering Committee and different working groups in the German Biobank Alliance (GBA).

Since September 2017 he has been part of the ESBB Executive Board. He has also been a member of the Ethics Committee at Leipzig University’s Faculty of Medicine since 2020.

Prof. Radka Kaneva

Radka Kaneva, PhD is a professor of biochemistry at Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria and head of the Molecular Medicine Center at MU-Sofia. She is also the coordinator of BBMRI.bg, national representative in the special group for 1+MG at EC, member of the WG for Common and Complex Diseases in 1+MG, and national PI in the Genomic Data Infrastructure and Genome of Europe projects.

Additionally, as a member of the board of Bulgarian Association for Personalized Medicine, her efforts are directed at establishing the Bulgarian BBMRI node and network to stimulate high-quality biobanking, translational research, and precision medicine.
